Unusual objects appearing under specific conditions
Hello, I’m experiencing a problem with using the dGPU on my laptop (rx6600m) when running modded Minecraft. The game artifacts and fails to reach the main menu. On the iGPU (Vega 8), everything functions correctly as expected. Other games work fine, but in RPCS3 I notice graphical issues on the dGPU that don’t appear on the iGPU, though it’s not ideal. The problematic game is still marked as "In game" instead of "Playable." An image is attached for your reference. Could you help me figure this out? I’d appreciate any advice or assistance. Thanks ahead of time.
I notice two potential issues here, neither of which seems to fit the situation. One possibility is that your installation might be corrupted (a reinstall could help) or that one of the game's mods has a coding problem I don't have a fix for. Mods are often created by individuals who aren't fully experienced, which can lead to unexpected bugs or issues not discovered during testing.
After some checking later, I realized that in a fully clean setup using just forge, the same behavior occurs. Interestingly, the game continues to run, though you can't see anything—just random text appearing above. To clarify, I initially assumed the instance was Java 17, but that applies only to versions 1.18 and higher. The problem shown is actually on Java 8, which matches the version in use (1.16.5). It seems the situation has changed since then, allowing me to play normally again. All previous points remain valid except for what's already crossed out. Occasional glitches are fun!
I realized the situation. I believed AMD's "optional" graphics drivers were complete releases, but they're actually beta versions. This was my first experience with an AMD graphics card (long enough time in Windows and Linux), so I wasn't aware of this. Now I'm reverting to the latest "Recommended" drivers using DDU. Interestingly, the newest beta driver also resolved the Minecraft Forge problem—I tested it and it worked—but RPCS3 remains unstable, which is why I'm going back. The update was released a few hours ago, so I hadn't noticed it yet. Appreciate your responses; even if your advice didn't fix what I needed, you did try to help. You found no online proof of this issue. EDIT: The problem reappeared after installing the release driver. Part of the RPCS3 issues I'm facing is tied to a specific game and another system with an NVIDIA GPU. With the beta driver, there are minor horizontal lines in some cases, but the main problem was freezing—only the images stopped working, while audio and backend continued. I think it's worth accepting some visual glitches for overall stability. Updated August 23, 2022 by JoseLgamer
