Unusual memory issue Random data problems Strange performance issues
I bought new ram to add to my PC i made sure that it was the exact same model, same capacity and same speed as my existing ram. When i installed the ram it booted once perfectly fine but now when I restart or turn off my PC it won’t boot again and on my MOBO it has the DRAM error light, not sure if there’s something I can do to fix this or if it’s just a RAM or other issue my CPU is AM5 the RAM is Corsair 16GB 5200 DDR5 x4 and then my MOBO is a GIGABYTE B650 AORUS ELITE AX
Adjusting XMP and restarting with all sticks appears to resolve the issue, but does this eliminate XMP support entirely? It may affect performance depending on your setup.
Running four memory modules places greater demand on the CPU's internal controller. This can frequently lead to problems, particularly with DDR5 technology. You might still manage to boost your RAM speed, but it won't reach the 5200 MT/s limit (for example, you could aim for 5000 MT/s). Ideally, you'd prefer just two modules. As mentioned, DDR5 6000 MT/s CL30 is typically the top choice for this configuration. Are you referring to purchasing two sets of 2x16 GB, or would you rather opt for the 4x16 GB configuration? If you require 64 GB, it's much better to choose two 32 GB sticks for improved performance.
The 6000 CL30 model offers a lower price compared to alternatives, though the gap is minimal if you already possess it. For those seeking a more customized setup, increasing voltage, frequency, and latency can yield better results beyond standard XMP profiles.
It's a 4X16 setup, but I'm keeping it as is. It's a fair amount of effort for minimal gain—maybe around +400 MHz. Probably not worth it unless you're okay with a tiny jump. A +200 MHz boost on RAM wouldn't make much difference, while a 6000 CL30 filter could really add value.
