Hi, I have a brand new LG 34GN850-B. When I start YouTube in fullscreen it changes from black to this color (see picture). The specs say Apple MacBook Pro (2015) connected via Thunderbolt (mini DP) to DisplayPort when using HDMI to HDMI, everything seems fine. I’m curious if the screen is damaged or if there’s an issue with my MacBook. I tried a different cable (mini DP to DP), but the problem persists. Thanks for your help, Rob.

A JPG or PNG format would be more useful for assisting you. It seems my setup requires a specific codec that Microsoft intends to offer for viewing this HEIC file. I’ve already paid for Windows, so I won’t pay any further fees.

Sorry, I assumed it would display the image instead of initiating a download.

I might see the monitor failing. I’d ask someone who has a reliable display to check it. If they get the same issue, the problem is probably with the video gear. If not, your own monitor is likely the cause.

I checked it now using the screen from my girlfriend (really confused why I didn’t think of this), same cable and the display goes black then loses signal. When I leave my MacBook open, everything works on both screens... so it looks like something’s wrong with my MBP when the lid is closed.

Many laptops/notebooks include a ribbon cable connecting the board to the internal screen. A short one might disrupt the external signal. Issues could stem from loose lid hinges or similar components. Updated April 12, 2022 by An0maly_76 Additional details provided.
