I'll defend this by highlighting my knowledge of Gigabyte's software in my latest build. Its goal is to adjust everything to a dim red tone. It achieves this effortlessly without requiring any software installation. I didn't have to tweak anything when changing from a 5800x3D x570s to a 7950x3D x670e Aorus master. It functions seamlessly. The fans and my EKWB AIO connect through the motherboard's aRGB header, all aligned perfectly with the best RGB settings in low brightness red. iCUE, on the other hand, forced me to either install or remove the heatsinks on my RAM because it would often crash or stop working altogether. It usually failed in the background unless I manually opened the app and adjusted the profile—always to a very dim red. That's just my take, but I lean toward function over flashy visuals. The only time I own RGB fans is because my EKWB elite AIO came with four, which were quieter than my gucci Noctua ones.
iCUE compatibility issues with most motherboard utilities remain a challenge... The only reliable approach is configuring their own fans and animations, which offers more flexibility. I was hoping Asus's RGB software would integrate better, but it didn't... ASUS's RGB doesn't even work with MSI GPUs or RGB settings. Right now, everything on his system looks rainbow-colored... Your situation perfectly explains why I switched from Corsair after upgrading to 32GB and faster RAM (the RAM's LED stopped working, so I'm considering a replacement). I already ordered new RAM and thought about using the RMA process, but instead I went with a fresh purchase. My rig uses Aorus RGB Fusion just like yours, and I set it to a slow color cycle. However, RGB Fusion 2.0 doesn't support controlling RAM RGB in ARGB mode like Corsair does (which limits effects such as water fall).
RGB Fusion 2.0 is a simple tool, which is why I prefer it. iCUE offers the most features but needs more work to stay functional. I’m not sure if RAM RGB issues after shutdown are typical, but it was frustrating enough to stop using it and remove the heatsinks. The ASUS software, Aura/armoury crate, didn’t let me find my old ROG LC RX 6900 XT—surprisingly. It worked on my main system but failed on the spare one. I gave up after about an hour and disconnected the RGB headers, lol. Ideally, the RAM should connect via a ribbon cable, so you can leave the heatsinks in if it’s still annoying.
