Greetings, everyone,

I usually attempt to resolve problems independently by researching online before seeking assistance on forums, but this particular issue has proven difficult to solve and I haven't encountered another user with the same exact problem. It’s possible someone here has faced a similar situation, knows of someone who has, or might be able to offer a suggestion for troubleshooting that I haven't considered yet.

The day before yesterday, my system was functioning perfectly. However, yesterday while playing *Desolation of Mordor* (SoW), the down arrow key unexpectedly displayed the army screen. It appeared this specific key was malfunctioning, while all other keys operated correctly within Windows. I then tested *Far Cry New Dawn* and discovered that key bindings would frequently alter themselves whenever I attempted to reassign them, regardless of whether I saved the changes. I have never experienced this before and have tried a different keyboard, but the issue persists. I’ve also tested three separate USB ports with both keyboards, all of which report error-free readings.

I haven’t installed any new software or equipment, and I'm unaware of any changes that might explain this. Despite primarily utilizing cursor keys for navigation, using WASD or other combinations is ineffective because the key assignments change automatically after I bind them. This renders subsequent games unplayable, which is frustrating. Would anyone be able to provide assistance?

Windows 7 (64-bit).

Have you attempted to check if your USB controller within Device Manager requires an update, or perhaps by removing and then reinstalling its driver? Alternatively, you could execute an sfc /scannow command to investigate potentially damaged system files. Refer to the instructions on this Microsoft support webpage for guidance. Ensure you input the complete command when utilizing DISM.exe prior to running sfc /scannow, as it necessitates a sound system image file for an effective scan.

Perhaps you're pressing and holding the control or alt key when using the game?

I exclusively utilize keyboard and mouse, but I will attempt your recommendation, thank you Frag Maniac. @ timothy_b, absolutely not, I’m quite certain of that. It's peculiar that within Sow DoM there doesn’t appear to be a key for accessing the army screen – I'm not aware of one. You must navigate to it by pressing Esc to open the menu and subsequently selecting army. I have no concept of how it became linked to a specific key, honestly!

Would you like to try typing with a different set of keys?

A keyboard might malfunction unexpectedly.
