Hey everyone, I set up my PC about a month ago and have been keeping an eye on the temperatures. Now I notice that cores #4 and #5 are about 15°C warmer than the others. Keep in mind, during installation of the AIO LS720S Zero Dark, my finger slipped slightly on the thermal paste and pushed it a bit out of place—still not fully removed. I also tried updating the BIOS with Gigabyte F6d "Intel Default Settings," but core #4 still fluctuates. Could this be normal? It seems to spike high during games like Apex Legends, even when I run the Ultimate performance power plan. Additionally, sometimes on HWINFO I see these cores throttling at maximum temperature, though none actually hit it. Full specs: i9-14900K, Z790, AORUS Elite X, OC T-Force, 32GB RAM, 7200MHz, CL34.

The likelihood is that cores 4 and 5 operate at 6GHz, receiving significant voltage during single-threaded operation which causes them to heat up slightly. Also, around 85°C is far from a concern for this CPU, so I wouldn't be overly concerned.

Core #4 hit 100°C near the maximum about three times, but the averages stayed within range. It seems like a brief spike occurred. I didn’t encounter any power limits issues. Earlier today I applied an F6d BIOS update which activated Intel Default Settings for the CPU. Now it hasn’t exceeded 87°C. Keep in mind the room temperature is around 20°C with AC, dropping to about 38°C. EDIT: I also tried Apex Legends to check—since it uses many shaders during startup—and now that’s what I’m experiencing. However, the CPU package labeled "Enhanced" shows 87°C, while the DTS version in the picture reads 96°C.

The issue is clear. You're using an electric griddle, not a CPU Freal. That’s likely why Rono has the correct information—it probably involves those high-speed cores.
