Observed performance varies under maximum load. MSI Afterburner shows GPU usage around 50-60% and CPU usage similar. This could be due to system load, driver settings, or background processes. Checking for updates or adjusting power limits might help. Your specs (i5-4690k, GTX 980, 8GB RAM) are typical for balanced performance.
Occasionally it surpasses that threshold. Your GPU might be using 1x or 4x PCIe. Review the BIOS settings to find out its allocation details.
On the character selection screen I'm experiencing 100 fps (game cap). In-game performance varies between 40-100 fps depending on my position. Higher FPS means more GPU usage, but never exceeding 80% even though the game isn't capped at 100. My PC runs games like Far Cry 3 and Tomb Raider at maximum settings with 60 fps or higher. If I drop below that, my GPU usage will hit 100%. Regarding BIOS settings, I think MSI Gaming 3 Mobo would provide suitable configurations. PCI-E lanes are managed automatically, same as the Gen X model. I'm not a specialist, but adjusting to x4/x0/x0 and Gen 3 might be a good idea. PCI latency remains unclear, but it's currently set to 32 PCI Bus Clocks, and I'm not using other slots.
I also tested V-sync and didn’t notice any changes. It’s unclear what else could be the issue besides RAM, though an 8GB should be sufficient for several years.
There are numerous potential system constraints linked to various factors if poor coding exists, such as memory bandwidth limitations or issues with other components.
