This unusual service is running on my new ThinkPad T580. Both original Windows 10 Pro and Lenovo Vantage are installed. I made updates to the BIOS and battery firmware, but it seems connected to something else. It looks suspicious in C:/Windows, but there’s no uninstaller available. Someone might have information about this—could it be a virus? I’m unsure why a firmware update service is needed. Is there a way to identify the program using its signature online? I want to learn more before deciding whether to disable it or delete the files.

Hi Baterka, This tool attempts to refresh the Fibocom firmware on your cellular modem, likely after each laptop startup. Unfortunately, it keeps failing; the log shows ".... [Error][CPacketUpdate::FirmwarePacketUpdate] unZipFlsFiles Fail." You can update the driver via Lenovo's site and install it manually. To prevent the service from starting automatically, disable its startup option in "Computer Management" by setting "Startup Type" to Disabled. No other system should be impacted. Good luck!
