Hey everyone. I own an old 144Hz screen from Asus that I now use as my second monitor. I faced some issues because I upgraded to a new PC with a 4070TI. Initially, I used a DP cable, but before that, I had VGA with a 970 port. Now it seems to have "no signal" problems when using DisplayPort, though it works fine with a long HDMI cable. I tried connecting the screen to power as well, which helped. Why does my old screen struggle with a DP cable even though I use good quality ones?

Identify the source port for the signal, as it might be HDMI, meaning it won't verify DisplayPort availability

You're asking about the back of the screen or your GPU. It sounds like you're trying to figure out why HDMI works but the DP cable doesn't.

The screen display choices on the monitor, when set to auto or a particular source, likely indicate what is displayed.

As the person mentioned, I was referring to choosing the source on the screen. You should adjust it through the monitor's settings, by pressing a button there—though I’m not sure where exactly it is on your specific monitor. It’s usually located on the back.

It seems the issue has been resolved after disconnecting the power cable from the monitor. The screen might be experiencing age-related problems, possibly due to its TN panel design from 2015 when displays began using 144 Hz. I suspect the problem could be related to the cable or the port itself. Trying to access the OSD didn't help, but HDMI is working now. It looks like the screen might not support DP signals. The physical button you mentioned isn't present, only OSD functions remain. Interestingly, switching to DP still worked previously.
