Hi everyone, I've been facing some problems with my PC recently. Essentially, I had to replace both my power supply and GPU, which means I couldn't use it until about two days ago when the parts arrived. After trying it out, I discovered that loading times are unusually slow for certain activities—like a Rocket League match or FIFA—which take ages. I also noticed the hard drive usage hits 100% with "SYSTEM" running at full capacity, something I haven't experienced before. Even though I'm using an HDD, the performance remained poor compared to normal. My main question is: what's causing this issue and how can I fix it? Thanks in advance for any advice!
My setup details:
- CPU: Ryzen 5 3600
- Motherboard: Asus PRIME A520M-K
- GPU: Zotac RTX 2060
- RAM: Crucial 16 GB (model unknown)
- Power Supply: XPG PYLON 750W
- HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB
Are you relying on an HDD for booting? Consider switching to a budget SSD with DRAM cache—around 50 USD for a decent size can make a huge difference. Also, have you removed the drivers from your previous GPUs before adding the new one? Old drivers could still cause issues if left installed.
I’m already getting a new SSD because of that day and night difference, but I’d like to resolve this until it arrives since I can’t play anything. Regarding your question, I just installed the new GPU and did a clean driver setup first via GeForce Experience, then manually. (There were a few crashes and the error kept saying reinstall the GPU drivers, but after that everything worked smoothly with good temperatures, usage, and FPS.)
