Unusual disconnections occur randomly.
Hello, I’m experiencing problems with my peripherals—specifically the mouse and keyboard. They intermittently disconnect for about a second, sometimes several times a minute, though rarely lasting longer than a few seconds. It usually occurs during gaming but can also happen while browsing. What’s unusual is that the connection seems to reset itself, like a reboot, especially when using the backlight at full brightness. If I hold the mouse, it needs me to press the key again. This issue appears consistently across all wireless devices and the mouse. The newest wireless mouse I purchased behaves the same. Wired devices work fine, and even my wireless headset isn’t helping. You might think I’m just unlucky, but I’ve checked the BIOS—no disconnects were found. My motherboard is Z690 with DDR4, and I’m using the F30 device management settings. Power settings are disabled for power saving, drivers and Windows are up to date, and the PSU is 850 Gold+ from Gigabyte. The CPU is 13600K, GPU is 4070Ti, with an M.2 SSD of 1TB Samsung 980 or 1TB WD Green Sn3000, and a Corsair 3000MHz CL15.
I mentioned that the peripherals work without cables, but I wasn’t sure exactly how—like Bluetooth or a wireless USB adapter. Have you experimented by connecting just certain devices and testing different ports? Thanks for your patience!
Questions here are understandable, sorry. The setup is around 2.4Ghz for the mouse stealseries aerox 5, and the keyboard uses a Logitech MX mechanical bolt receiver. I’m not sure if it’s 2.4. I haven’t used Bluetooth because the mouse isn’t compatible and I don’t have a dongle. I’ve tested various USB ports—2x3.2, 2x3.0, 2x2.0 front IO at 3.0—but the keyboard only works with a USB Type C dongle, which is only available in one slot.
I'm happy to take a look. It's interesting to know how these devices behave when connected to another system. Maybe checking the driver software could help identify any problems. If you own a laptop, it might be useful to test all connected devices to see if the issue is widespread or limited to one PC. Bluetooth could also be worth exploring as an alternative connection method.
I’ll proceed with testing another setup using only Ethernet, one monitor, and the two key and mouse devices. I’ll reach out as soon as possible. If you have any additional suggestions while waiting, feel free to share—happy to experiment right now.
P.S.: Windows was reinstalled twice last week (Win10, no need for W11).
