Unusual data drops in certain digital games
Hi, I’m experiencing packet loss in online games while playing over Wi-Fi. A wired connection would be preferable, but my LAN port isn’t working anymore. I’ve reached out to my ISP who can’t resolve the problem on their side. Recently, I enabled Bluetooth on my PCIe card (Asus AC55BT with an Intel 8260 NIC) because I purchased a BT headphone. The issue began after that. To use Bluetooth, I need the included USB 2.0 cable, which makes me think BT might rely on USB 2.0 or the power supply. Could using both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi simultaneously be causing bandwidth problems on my 2019 network card? Any suggestions on how to fix this? I’m considering three options: get a new BT dongle, purchase a USB Ethernet card for my router, or buy a new PCIe Wi-Fi card (though that seems risky). Here’s the Wi-Fi card I have.
Your PC might be experiencing issues due to overlapping frequencies. BT and WiFi both use the same 2.4GHz band, which can cause interference. Disconnecting the USB cable from the WiFi card could resolve the problem by eliminating BT communication. Some routers once offered settings for 2.4GHz and 5GHz compatibility, but results varied. Switching to a 5GHz network or using an affordable USB-to-Ethernet adapter may help. If gaming on WiFi remains unsatisfactory, consider alternative solutions.
