Unusual dark overlay while playing games.
Unusual dark overlay while playing games.
Hi guys, Bit of an odd one. Whenever I play a game (with no discernable pattern of which games), I will occasionally briefly get a black screen (which happens multiple times in every session). A second later, the display output returns; the game hasn't crashed, and everything is fine. No Windows system sound that would insinuate a crash and restart of the driver. What I have checked/done: -Checked Event Viewer (no recurring errors I can see there) (this was cursory though) -Nuked the display driver with DDU and freshly installed an up-to-date driver The last time I did a deep clean of my PC, I reseated the GPU I have tried other fixes, but it's been happening for over a year, so I cannot remember what I have tried for the life of me. System Spec [via a DxDiag report with some modification]: No GPU OC, CPU is just auto OC. Games installed on all drives have the same issue. Happy to provide more info as and when required. Thanks, Josh Edited December 13, 2024 by Scruffeyis Added details & Corrections
Thanks in advance for the idea. Sadly, it wasn't the answer I was looking for. I'm currently using my third display port, and I also tested HDMI. Great news though—I completely missed trying that (I've been using it for about a year now). It's just starting to feel bothersome, so I'm giving it another shot.
It seems the cable isn't the problem—it could be the monitor or your GPU. Have you tested with another monitor? If the issue is consistent, the display panel might be faulty. If it continues, your GPU might be affected, possibly due to insufficient VRAM, which can occur with any connection.
