Hi everyone, I’m trying to figure this out. My grandfather had an old computer that was becoming very slow. I upgraded it using some spare parts from my own hardware—CPU, motherboard, and GPU—and also installed a new SATA SSD. I left the power supply unchanged. The current specs are: CPU I5 3330, mainboard Gigabyte H77 DS3H, GPU GT630, Crucial Mx500 1TB.

I found out the PSU is the issue too, even though I thought it was the motherboard. The computer won’t start unless the PSU is fully discharged—just plug it in for a few seconds. Since his old setup worked fine for years, I told him he could use the PC normally and that I’d replace it later.

Now there’s another problem: the PC won’t boot into Windows. Only the Gigabyte start screen appears. When I try to enter BIOS or the boot menu, nothing happens. After a short wait, it restarts and just shows the Gigabyte screen again. I’m confused about what might be causing this. Right now only my mom is using the machine, and I’m on the phone explaining what to do. Tomorrow I plan to visit my grandparents and handle it myself, but any tips would be greatly appreciated.
