So I was helping @Keal from our forum with his build after few problems he had with mobo before. Short story, pc is working now but there is some weird issue which I can’t think of possible fix solution. When ethernet cable is connected to the mobo there is vga light on the mobo light up and system is not booting, as soon as the cable is removed the pc boots. Anyone have some idea of fixing that??

It seems the device is trying to connect to a monitor via Ethernet. If it's using a PCIe card, it might involve low-level software adjustments. I’d consider rebuilding the BIOS, though it may already have been updated.

It hasn't been completed yet. The Ethernet connection is connected to the motherboard, not a PCIe card.

Other cable type or ethernet? Probably not, he didn't try that.

He might want to attempt it again. The cable could be damaged or have a short circuit at one end.

It's conceivable the BIOS mistakenly identifies Ethernet as the display. Lack of a cable in the Ethernet port usually causes it to shut down, which prompts the BIOS to bypass it.

The only idea that came to mind was connecting the ethernet cable in an unpowered state. It seemed straightforward, but there’s limited guidance. If it functions, the system might not respond unless activity is detected or the connection forms a short circuit when both ends are plugged in. I lack sufficient knowledge about how Ethernet cards operate. A failure with an unpowered cable could indicate the module is active somehow. More understanding of Ethernet quirks might help clarify. I suspect I once knew this but forgot it. My instinct suggests that even a simple adapter—like an extension or router—might work, though I’m not confident. The part of my mind that’s unsure tends to misjudge often.
