I recently assembled my own PC with these specifications: Intel i5 13600k Biostar b760 mx-e pro Nvidia Inno3d 4070 BeQuiet Dark Rock 4. Now I can operate the machine when idle, but it immediately shuts down upon clicking start in Cinebench. Right away. I measured core temperatures and at idle they hover around 30-40°C – fairly typical. However, with any load it spikes instantly to about 100°C. Not a gradual increase, just an abrupt jump. I verified the cooler is installed, spins correctly, and even after removing it and reapplying thermal paste, performance remained stable. The cooler is rated for 200W, while the CPU draws only 125W. That should be fine, yet the temperatures are erratic. Is this normal? Could there be an issue with my BIOS or the CPU’s temperature sensing? I’m not sure... here’s a screenshot of the core temp during Cinebench.
It refers to a protective casing around the CPU. It doesn't go directly onto the processor itself but surrounds it for safety and thermal management. Its main purpose is to shield the CPU from dust, physical damage, and environmental factors while helping with heat dissipation.
The LG1700 socket experiences warping that leads to poor connection between the CPU and heatsink, resulting in unusual temperature fluctuations. The process removes the original metal socket and installs a brace to stop movement and prevent deformation, resolving this design issue.
I understand, it’s not necessary to do that. That does feel a bit intrusive. I’m glad the PC is running, but I’m a little concerned about the temperatures.
