I tried removing the files linked to DaVinci_Resolve, but it caused an error and made Windows Explorer stop working. I opened regedit.exe, looked for DaVinci_Resolve, and deleted the only matching entry. Could you have any ideas? Thank you.

Even though it's a common mistake that shows up when attempting to remove shared files, it's quite possible DaVinci was interacting with your Downloads folder. That’s not ideal, but it can occur. Did you see any other error messages before the 0x80004005 code appeared?

I’m glad you exported the registry entry prior to deletion—it’s a smart move. Remember, always back up what you export from the registry before making changes. Just like carrying your own parachute, it’s wise to be prepared.

It’s also possible that DaVinci was using files or folders in your Downloads directory. If so, uninstalling and reinstalling it properly would be best. Antivirus programs can sometimes trigger this issue too; consider disabling them temporarily and rebooting.

If you have System Restore activated, restore to the latest point before the Downloads deletion, then check if DaVinci was using that folder. Alternatively, restore your most recent system backup, which is also a good option for troubleshooting.

If neither a restore point nor a backup exists, it might be time to create one or both. For now, in cases like this, it’s better to pause and reflect rather than keep trying to fix things immediately. Consider thinking about how you arrived at this situation and why. Is it DaVinci itself, or could another program be involved? Often, taking a moment for calm reflection leads to clearer solutions.
