I recently replaced my PC completely (except for the power supply and storage, details at the bottom). It wasn’t a fresh Windows 10 install, but I used DDU on my previous machine to clear all drivers before transferring the drive. After that, whenever I try to run games built with Unreal Engine, they frequently crash after anywhere from two minutes to an hour. My collection of games since the upgrade is limited: Satisfactory, Fortnite, and Oxygen Not Included (ONI). The first two are Unreal Engine 4 and 5, while ONI is a Unity title. Fortnite crashed twice (only tried twice), and Satisfactory has crashed six times so far. I played ONI for about three hours on a few occasions without any problems. Each crash report begins with “Unhandled Exception: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION reading address 0xffffffffffffffff.” The memory address keeps changing, which suggests it’s the latest one received. My GPU driver is version 512.95 (released 5/24/2022). I assembled the system around 5/14/2022. Specs: CPU – AMD Ryzen 5 5600X MBD – ASRock B550 Taichi (Razer Edition) RAM – Corsair Vengeance DDR4 32GB (2x16GB) at 3600MHz – C16 GPU – EVGA FTW 3080 LHR – PSU – Corsair RM850x. I’m trying to fix this because the crashing games are exactly what I want to play. Update: My memory diagnostic tool reported no errors. I also ran ‘sfc /scannow’ in the command prompt, which said “Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.” However, sometimes when problems occur, it does detect and fix issues.

I haven't installed Windows again, but I used DDU on my old machine to clear all drivers before transferring the storage. I want to skip a full install unless needed. The memory diagnostics tool reported 'no errors.' I also ran 'sfc /scannow' in the command prompt and it confirmed no integrity issues. Sometimes when problems arise, it checks for and fixes them automatically. This information is added to your notes.

Collect and execute MemTest86 with four passes. Should it detect no issues, it could be a good sign to start a new installation.

I explored more online resources and discovered others facing the same issues. There’s a whole discussion about the new Nvidia drivers being unreliable. I switched back to driver 472.12, and everything works smoothly in the games I play. It looks like I’ll keep using that version for some time. I’m planning to share this if anyone else encounters the same problem—hope it helps them too.
