I've been using an unraid server for about 7 to 8 years now. The CPU was upgraded from an Arjlon 200ge to a Ryzen 5 4600g, and the BIOS works fine after updates. However, whenever it attempts to connect to unraid, the screen disappears and it becomes very unresponsive. I've tried updating the OS, moving the EFI folder to EFI, using a dedicated GPU, but nothing helped. I'm now trying to install the latest BIOS, fearing loss of CPU support. Any advice?

Yes, you can start Ubuntu using an installer. After a CPU swap, the system remains compatible with various distributions, making it quite flexible.

Currently there are no extra storage drives available, so I’m only able to start from BIOS and Unraid. Swap the other processor in, and it’s attempting to boot into Unraid now.

Do you have any VFIO configurations ready? If yes, remove them all, change the CPU, then reinstall them—remember hardware changes can affect essential OS bindings.

I'm not sure about the specifics. Could you provide more details about the setup and what's being run?

Using the IGP for visual display only, without running virtual machines.

It turns out the processor is down. I managed to install a Ryzen 5 1600 and an R5-220 into Unraid. I also tried the R5-220 with a 4600GPS, but it didn’t work. Since I found the 1600 model, I don’t need the 4600GPS anymore.
