Hello, I'm sharing this because my friend has a hard time with English. He’s having his laptop shut down suddenly and stop getting power from the charger, so it can’t charge properly. He took it to insurance, who replaced the motherboard twice, once for the power adapter, and then again for the charger. The third visit they said it was likely a manufacturing issue and won’t refund the full amount—they only offer a quarter of what he paid, because he’s used it for two years. Important: we tested it many times and it’s not reliable. It sometimes shuts down, other times it works. Even when just browsing with Discord on, it can happen. While gaming, temperatures go up to 115°C. That seems unusual, right? What should he do? His laptop has Dell G15 5520, Intel i7-12700H, 15.6-inch FHD, 512GB SSD, 16GB RAM, and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 4GB.

This appears to be a power system issue. Checking the service manual suggests an independent power adapter component may be faulty, possibly replacing the wall-mounted brick or indicating a battery problem. Inspect the connections carefully. If the fan curve remains unchanged, cleaning might be necessary.

they swapped out the entire power brick and cables. the fans look fresh, and the new thermal paste is at least what the insurance representative suggested. doing this alone could cancel his warranty.

Finally, the remaining components would involve swapping out the power adapter's internal part and the battery.

We're still covered under the warranty, so it makes sense to go ahead and use it.

The third attempt was denied by the insurance provider. This concerns the product's manufacturer warranty. If the coverage remains active, reach out to the manufacturer. Otherwise, if it expired, you're no longer covered for such issues and should stop focusing on stickers or "do not open void warranties" claims.
