I've been noticing strange music and ads even when everything is hidden, no images shown. I ran a Windows Defender scan but got a message saying the app is disabled by group policy. Installing anti-malware or cleaner just closes the installer. Anyone else had this issue? Please share any tips to fix it, thanks! (P.S. attached the Windows Defender screenshot)

Start in safe mode without networking and perform scans. Review msconfig under Startup and Services to identify options to disable. Verify the Windows firewall settings. Attempt adaware, adwcleaner, Emisoft Antimalware Plus, and check the Add/Remove Programs list. It might be as straightforward as that...?

Ensure your PC is clean before downloading a boot virus removal tool such as KAV or Avast Rescue Disc. Place it on a USB drive or burn it to a CD/DVD. If you don’t have vital files on the hard drive, use GParted on a live Linux system to create a new partition table (GPT for UEFI, MBR for Legacy) and then repartition the HDD. This approach may be faster and effectively clean boot sectors. Edited January 1, 2016 by jagdtigger
