Alrit, the phone and USB port modem are connected, and it looks like the free modem comes with an 802.11n router. It should be able to run at 5GHz out of the box, but the manufacturer might have the option to disable it.

Wireless N doesn't always refer to 5GHz. Certain routers operate at just 2.4GHz, while others offer a dual-band option where you choose between the bands. Some devices support both 2.4GHz and 5GHz simultaneously.
