The cable end is located at the corner of the HDD storage area, and it appears to be lodged there. I posted a photo immediately after creating the thread. I'm uploading again, though my internet connection is slow.

It's a power cable for the thin LED strip on the front of the PSU casing. To clarify your point: yes, it should work fine.
