Unknown adapter available for X570 Dark Hero
I've been in contact with support where i bought it, and I've read the manual several times. Nobody can tell me what this port is for. Sry if it's completely obvious, and im just missing something. I think I'll get an awnser here way before i hear back from asus.
It seems likely it's a debugging port, possibly for Asus in RMAs.
It would make sense. From what you observe, it isn't displayed in the layout and, as you mentioned, it isn't labeled.
I inquired with ASUS regarding this on my B350-F Gaming. They explained it's a "debug port, like for accessing the BIOS and system diagnostics." You don't have to utilize it.
Thanks! Yeah, I'll never use it, but when you sitt there for hours working on your rig. It bugs me to look at something i have no idea what its for. Now i know, and can build in peace.
These types of headers are generally used for:
- Diagnosis (extracting specific details from the board, such as BIOS version)
- Programming a chip (ICSP/ISP header is the usual term; its proximity to a chip underneath supports this idea)
- Jumpers (to activate or deactivate certain board features)
In any case, it's not intended for users or consumers, so it isn't labeled in manuals and likely lacks silkscreen information.
