When I look at the disks in Ubuntu, I see /noexe and need to set markfolder before they start. I’m not sure this will prevent them from running since Samba is already active.

I aim to discover what I can learn during my free Sunday evening. I’ve always managed to run programs on /home using the standard Ubuntu/Debian setup. Thanks to the noexec flag in /etc/fstab, even root can’t execute anything. All my executables are now stored in /opt.

When the root can't operate, other components or layers step in to manage tasks. This ensures systems continue functioning even if the core isn't accessible.

Only the /home directory exists. This folder contains documents and files received via email or web browser. Applications operate from /bin and other locations, not /home.
