Hello before you say that no maker will build one motherboard unless it's exactly what I need, and definitely not once I want a board for consumers who use MacBooks from 2007 or earlier—the black ones, just two DIMM slots, support for 32GB RAM, one or two M.2 slots, existing hard drive ports plus another disk port, compatibility with newer parts, and external monitor support since the built-in one isn't great.

This sounds like a high-value initiative, right? Locating a firm to handle motherboard design outsourcing, creating prototypes, refining them, and managing testing phases. Setting up pre-release builds, ensuring certification, scaling production, and validating performance. It’s not coming together as planned.

He believes he can build a mobile device without investing millions, but ultimately he only wants the Mac to serve as a case. Lol have fun! Also, @Levent, you overlooked software compatibility—it's a big deal.

I'm here to help with your lighting industry challenges. The costs you're facing highlight the difficulty of producing custom prototypes—especially when adding components to small PCBs. For a demo board alone, expenses can reach tens of thousands, and scaling up to retail production would require millions. This underscores the need for more efficient solutions or bulk manufacturing strategies.

I'm having trouble with that opening sentence. It's a bit confusing.

You could definitely consider launching your own laptop manufacturing business. The initial costs would depend on scale, but typically include equipment, workspace, and setup—ranging from tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of dollars. To source parts, you might explore suppliers, online marketplaces, or local vendors for components like processors, memory, displays, and circuit boards.

Begin by clarifying your goals. Covering everything from the initial concept to full production, investing between $100 million and $250 million would be a solid starting point.

When you decide to tackle this project solo, remember the expenses involved. Building a motherboard isn’t cheap, and it won’t boost a 2007 MacBook’s speed compared to today’s devices.
