Hello everyone, this is my first update here about my initial build. The specs are a Ryzen 7 5800X, MSI B550 Tomahawk AIO, NXT Z73 M. So I just completed the driver install, updated everything, and upgraded the BIOS to the latest stable version—not the beta. I also turned on XMP and set precision boost overdrive to auto before switching it off later.

When I opened NZXT CAM to adjust lighting for the AIO, I’m not sure what I did at that moment, but suddenly my temperatures climbed steadily to around 58°F. They were stable around 30-40°F before then, and my fans spiked up. I checked Task Manager and saw my CPU clocking at 4.7GHz.

I tried removing the CAM app, creating a new profile, reverting back to defaults, disabling XMP, and even deleting the CMOS battery—nothing worked. I’m worried about running games because I doubt my motherboard can handle such high speeds and heat.

Any suggestions on how to bring the clock rates back down to normal base speeds? The BIOS keeps showing 3.8GHz when it shouldn’t. Please help!

The 5800x operates at a 4.7 GHz boost clock, which is acceptable. The issue lies in the increased activity when the system is idle. The 10% CPU usage appears high for a desktop setup. What processes are consuming so much power?

Remove the software and restart your computer. Verify functionality using Task Manager, CPU-Z, or Hwinfo64.

Thanks for your response and the confirmation about the boost clock rate. I was quite concerned about the clock speed. After reviewing TaskManager, it seems the issue might have been downloading games through the Blizzard Battle.net app and nzxt, which caused my CPU to spike significantly. Once the downloads were complete, the temperatures dropped and I was averaging around 55-60 degrees while playing my first game. I’m not sure if that was the main cause of the spike under low load.

You're welcome. I'll definitely try the programs. It's unclear what cam did, but the PC runs normally when started, though the fans speed up when opening the app. Thanks again!
