Unintended power-off when not in use
Unintended power-off when not in use
i’m trying to understand this issue after a long period of troubleshooting. right now i’m really exhausted and still trying to make sense of it. here’s what’s happening:
after switching all team red settings, performance is great. but when i leave the computer unattended—like going shopping—it can restart unexpectedly. i’ve noticed something strange:
1. nothing shows in event viewer except a weird shutdown after the system boots again.
2. at first it looked like a graphics problem, then it seemed to come back.
3. every fix i try—removing OC, lowering clock speeds, reinstalling windows—doesn’t help.
4. it’s not hibernation or sleep mode, and it stays off when i sleep, but it runs for days without working properly.
my main question is: why does it crash? i saw no BSOD, just occasional freezes. after switching from intel to amd, there was a brief window issue that fixed itself with a reinstall. now it freezes, the mouse area turns black, then secondary monitor goes dark, followed by main screen, and it restarts. this only happens once during boot, and i’ve tried keeping something running just to avoid this.
i’m considering other parts: ram, psu, motherboard, even a full windows reinstall. but i’m not sure if the cpu or gpu is the culprit. i’m on windows 10 64 bit version 22H2, with specific specs. ram: 16gb corsair vengeance (4x4gb), oc set to 3000 mhz (can go up), storage: nvme drive, hdd, ssd drives, and a 500gb sata ssd. power supply: 750w cooler master gx bronze.
i’m hoping for something simple—just a background process running—to keep it alive until i return.
Added it to the spec sheet under the CPU section. Realized I had overlooked that just now. It's an RX 6600 that's been overclocked and slightly undervolted. Even when running stock, issues persist, and the graphics drivers have been reinstalled multiple times, both with and without adrenaline.
It might be wise to consider a replacement unit and possibly a fresh power supply. I've been using this system since about 2014-15, cleared the CMOS during my last Windows install, but I'm not sure if that helps. It seems unrelated to RAM, as it uses the same components regardless of the setup.
