I’m working on assembling my initial gaming setup. Everything is put together and the connections are made, but I’m unsure about the purpose of this cable or its placement on the motherboard. Please let me know if you can clarify further.

It's a cable designed to link your case's USB Type C port to your motherboard. When your motherboard includes this port (which is rare), you can find it just below the 24 pin ATX/RAM slots. A closer view shows: If your motherboard lacks this feature, you have three options: 1. Purchase a motherboard with the connector 2. Ignore the USB Type C and leave the cable unconnected 3. Use an adapter that converts a USB 3.0 header to a Type C, such as the Silverstone CP14.
