Unexpected shutdown of the PC caused by kernel power loss version 41
Hello, I recently installed a new CPU and motherboard (full specifications available at the bottom). After the upgrade, I frequently experience unexpected power drops. The Windows Event Viewer shows a Kernel Power 41 error. The BugcheckCode displays code 0, so there’s nothing more to explore from that source. Initially, I thought the issue might stem from either the motherboard or the CPU since those are the only components changed. I discovered a method to reproduce the sudden power loss consistently—using Blender (version 3.3.0) with a simple scene and Cycles Render Engine, while running Denoising on the PC. This suggests the problem likely involves the power supply unit or the graphics card itself. It’s worth noting that not all GPU tasks trigger this issue. Gaming and rendering without denoising work perfectly. My testing steps included: Windows Memory Check, Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool (no errors), reinstalling GPU drivers after removing them with DDU, reseating the GPU, RAM, and power cables (including different 8-pin connections for the GPU). I monitored temperatures via HWMonitor and power draw through HWMonitor, finding no abnormal readings. With the tools I have, I’m unsure what else to try. I’ll ask a friend with a GPU to see if the problem continues. Until then, any suggestions would be appreciated. Can a random input cause your system to fail? Yes, it might. Move everything to a different area and use another circuit. It could point to a weak power supply issue.
Think about ways to accurately identify the issue before returning the CPU.
