I experience a very basic build. Every time I play games, the frame rate stays around 30-60 FPS. After a while, it drops to 1-5 for about 10-20 seconds and then recovers. This pattern repeats over time. I've reinstalled Windows, updated drivers, but the issue persists. Could it be related to a BIOS problem? My specs are: MSI B450, Pro Max Ryzen 3200G, 4+4 cores, 2400 MHz, 450W PSU. Anyone have advice? Updated September 25, 2021 by Shour0v

Tell me about your storage configuration and the specific game you're playing. I'll do my best to understand!

I have a 128GB M.2 drive (brand uncertain) with a 1TB TRANSEND HDD. It’s currently running FarCry 3, and I’ve encountered the same issue even with Assassin’s Creed II. That seems quite odd.

Because you're running on an iGPU/APU with just 8GB RAM, it's possible the memory limit will be reached and your system might crash. I recommend using software that lets you monitor CPU, GPU, and RAM/VRAM usage during games to detect when performance drops near 7.5GB before frame drops occur.

Bro assassins creed 2 isn't overly demanding on your system, but this issue persists even when using the lowest graphics options.

The minimum requirements for Assassins Creed 2 are 2GB of VRAM. Windows typically allocates 4GB even when idle, which alone would consume about 6GB of RAM—roughly 75% usage. It’s possible other applications are also consuming the rest.

I tracked the temperature while also observing RAM consumption; all metrics remained consistent during the frame drop.
