Unexpected decrease in frame rate across all titles on a high-end gaming PC
This problem began just a few days ago and I’ve been using this PC for over a month. My setup includes a CORSAIR - VENGEANCE a7300 Gaming Desktop, AMD Ryzen 9 7900X, 64GB DDR5 5600 MHz RAM, and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 that’s prebuilt. I ran several benchmarks and everything looked normal, but recently I noticed a sharp drop in FPS across all games. In 1440p I’m now seeing 100-140 FPS instead of the usual 170-200 for Battlefield 2042, and in GTA V it’s down to 70-110 compared to my previous 130-170 FPS. I’ve checked clock speeds, reinstalled Windows, tried fresh driver updates, cleaned the GeForce experience settings, and even disabled eco mode, but nothing resolves the issue. I’m running out of ideas and would really appreciate some assistance.
Recent motherboard firmware updates, newest AMD chipset software, and performance metrics under stress.
It seems odd we're encountering repeated problems even after a fresh install on new, high-end hardware. Have you cleared all partitions during the Windows setup? Is fast startup enabled? What power plan is active? Which NVIDIA driver version are you using? What are your current NVIDIA power settings? Also, could you share a screenshot of your Task Manager startup tab?
