I don't know if this is an issue or intentional but it does suck that the board basically caps the voltage at a certain point. I can lower the lite load as much as I want and it does take effect, but like said previously, only affects the load voltage for me. Maybe I should contact MSI and see if they know anything. It is weird that you are seeing peaks of 230w package power, mine usually never goes above 215w peak, with typical peak wattage being around 200-210w (lite load 7, -0.08v offset) and usually sits around 180-190w average in cinebench r23 and Blender. Thats unfortunate you experienced coil whine with the Gigabyte, they are usually good with that sort of thing (as in not having coil whine). I was actually going to go with that exact Gigabyte board, but ended up choosing the MSI since I like the features and more plentiful IO, also Gigabyte tends to pump the voltage to the CPU.

To enable the undervolt in BIOS (MSI), choose "offset" instead of adaptive offset.
