Understanding port forwarding issues
Hey there, I saw your post about setting up port forwarding for Space Engineers. I understand you're trying to forward port 27016 UDP and noticed the TCP entry didn't seem to matter. From what I read, people often use their own private IP addresses, which can cause confusion. It might help to double-check your router settings or try a different port if needed. Let me know if you want more tips!
I double-checked my LAN IP address. Then I ended up using a static IP for my computer and the modem, which seems to have messed with the connection setup. Since I’m not plugged into the router directly, it appears the ONT is handling the fiber input and distributing it inside the house. The fact that I’m connected through it rather than the modem might be contributing to the problem.
It was quite a surprising situation today. I attempted to move the router to my room only to find that the Ethernet port wasn't active or available. I've always stayed connected through the modem, which has been my setup. This might seem clear to others, but I'm still figuring things out. Now focusing on port forwarding, everything appears to be functioning, yet it doesn't seem right.
