I placed the 7700k at the corner where the alignment triangle is positioned. A pin was bent slightly. I’ve adjusted the PCB as much as possible. I’m checking the Kaby Lake pinout and still unsure how to interpret it. Should I view it from the IHS angle down or from the pin side? It seems the pinout indicates the pin isn’t being used—either gray or black. Confirm?
The bottom right area is key. Pins are secured at the IHS, and you need to rotate the CPU left. Notice that the damaged corner shows fewer pins missing compared to the intact side above it. Referring to the diagram will confirm this, but flipped.
I just added it to my Unraid server. It appears in the bios and seems to function there. I'll keep monitoring it, but it looks like that pin isn't being used. (fingers crossed)
I might have mentioned too much already. I see the cache drive and second parity drive connected to an LSI card are gone. It gives me the feeling they're not working. Updated: an LSI PCI card wasn't being detected... I tried moving it to another PCI slot, and it appeared. (hope it works)
I believe the CPU is okay and you had a very fortunate outcome. The damaged pad is the grey one, but it shouldn't really affect things because it should still connect with the pin in the socket.
It seems there should be four pins diagonally in that corner, which would suggest the black square in the diagram. I'm guessing the grey squares aren't needed, but what exactly are the black squares? It looks like it's undergoing a parity rebuild and is running smoothly, matching my i5 7600k speed. I'll check if it remains stable.
The highlighted part is the one that’s now missing about halfway from your CPU. (Remember, the images you shared are upside down.) If my understanding is correct, the black components aren’t needed and the grey ones likely handle power delivery. But I can’t see it clearly, so I’m uncertain.
