Under heavy use, USB ports stop working properly.
Hi, I've noticed some problems with my USB ports freezing together lately. I thought switching to SignalRGB might help, but it seems the issue is more serious than just a setting. When this happens, an error appears in the event viewer with the message: "Error setting traits on Provider {8444a4fb-d8d3-4f38-84f8-89960a1ef12f}". It shows up during startup too, especially when I connect my condenser mic and Corsair VOID wireless headset. If either device is plugged in, the error occurs. I've checked my drivers, updated BIOS, and run memory tests on my RAM—it passes. I haven't changed the power supply yet, even though it's old, so I'm not sure what's causing this. My system runs Windows 11 64-bit with the latest updates, and I'm using MSI MEG B550 UNIFY. The only background apps are SignalRGB, TranslucentTB, and the Wallpaper engine (which turns off when a fullscreen app runs). This is really frustrating, any suggestions?
Examine the 5V rail voltage using your preferred monitoring tool and observe any drops under load. If you notice a decline, it may be necessary to replace the power supply.
New setup here. Might be a Windows problem. I’m using a clean install of Kill-It-With-Fire. Hardware could be the issue too. Is the motherboard still covered by warranty? Are any M.2 drives installed? Please verify the old setup first.

I hadn't considered this before, I plan to try it later. Thanks. As for what was shared on November 22nd, I think that's the version I'm using. I'd be in agreement with you; actually, part of me believes this, but the installation is still new (since October). I did it because I just received the motherboard due to my B450 board failing. I have two M.2 slots filled. Updated December 1, 2022 by Vandor Quote fail
The system setup is quite different from what you're used to, especially when switching from AMD to Intel processors. Sometimes using M.2 drives can disable SATA connections. It's possible that turning off all SATA ports is the issue, even if you have plenty of M.2 slots available. The motherboard documentation can help confirm this, though there might still be a few options left. Updated: December 1, 2022 by Bombastinator
It took around 20 minutes of random stress or games, and the 5v rail stayed fairly stable. From what I know, it's acceptable up to about 4.5V.
Most of the machine is brand new. If your latest motherboard stops SATA ports when you install an SSD (since not every model behaves the same and the changes vary), it suggests no hardware or software issue. You’ll need a SATA or M.2 card to restore working ports. It’s also possible some ports remain active even if two M.2 slots are filled. Refer to the motherboard manual for guidance.
