Hello, I've been trying to figure this out for a while now. It's hard to grasp what the issue really is. In any competitive game I play—like League, Rocket League, CS2—I consistently struggle to hit around 240 fps, and my 1% lows are only half of my full frame rate, which seems odd. My system specs are: R5 5600x with stock AMD cooler, underclocked 3060 Ti, 32 GB 3600 MHz RAM, B550 Tomahawk, 1 TB NVMe SSD (OS is on), another 1 TB HDD, a 600W XILENCE PSU, but it's seven years old and has no fans in a regular office case. I have a few ideas: 1) cooling might be the problem, 2) the PSU could be failing and not delivering enough power, or 3) my SSD is limiting performance and I should switch to an M.2 drive. I'm also open to other suggestions if anyone has any thoughts. Problem—my frame rate and lows should improve.

Yes, I checked the temperatures using a tool like HWinfo.

It's quite typical for my PC to behave this way consistently. It doesn't usually matter much when playing, especially if you can't notice the problem. However, if your PC freezes unexpectedly during games, it could indicate a deeper issue.

In CS2 the CPU stays around 96°C most of the time, though it claims not to be throttling. Other games run at average temps, while the GPU maxes out at 70°C. I suspect I might have underclocked too much, but turning it off doesn’t improve FPS.

The setup isn't great, but do you have funds for a better cooler?

This clearly highlights the problem. I notice the game isn't running smoothly, and even at my 144 Hz display, the frame rate fluctuates rather than staying steady at 144 FPS.

It might not be a big issue. You heard that stock cooler works for the 5600X, so maybe upgrading isn't necessary right now. The NZXT H6 Flow could help fix your cooling concerns, but you didn’t think it’d be the main problem. Good luck with your decision!

Your processor is slightly above the maximum temperature limit specified by AMD (95°C).

I only noticed my CPU consistently boosts to around 4.3 GHz, though it claims a maximum of 4.6 GHz—could be an overheating issue.

Consider re-uploading the CPU; it might be that the cooler is improperly secured.
