About four years ago I assembled my initial machine (I5-6600k and 1050 2gb). Lacking funds for a full upgrade, I learned to adjust and push its limits to meet my requirements. Eventually, the system struggled with modeling and rendering tasks, prompting me to invest in a custom build. This included an I9-7900x, MSI X299 Raider, 32GB HyperX FURY DDR4-2666, Titan XP, and a Samsung Evo SSD. It performed adequately for the last couple of years with stock components, though rendering still required in-house work. Now I focus more on gaming and it feels like a compromise. In stock builds, Cinebench scores were decent (5781 & 461), but I’ve noticed my memory of optimization tricks has faded. I tried MSI OC Genie, but it didn’t impress me much. NZXT CAM displayed a base clock of 4100MHz instead of the stock 3300MHz, leading to lower Cinebench scores (4784 & 425). Any suggestions or tips for manual tweaking to improve performance would be greatly appreciated, as I’m still dealing with some frustration.
Auto OC tools seem ineffective, avoid them. X299 platform lacks the same performance as Coffee Lake, especially regarding memory usage. It's comparable to Intel Ryzen CPUs when pushing core voltage beyond 1.4V on 14nm chips. Adjust the CPU input voltage to 1.9-2V. Increase the core clock multiplier normally, but keep LLC calibration around a mid-range setting (level 4 if available). Mesh frequency multiplier should be slightly more than two-thirds of the core clock multiplier for optimal results.
