Uncertainty about data storage requirements
Uncertainty about data storage requirements
The motherboard I plan to purchase is Gigabyte ax370m-gaming 3. In their memory QVL, the model ADATA AD4U2400W4G17-B is listed, but the chip manufacturer is shown as HYNIX while my RAM uses a Specktek chip. Would this cause a problem?
Sorry, but this question hasn't provided any answers yet.
I was merely inquiring whether the Adata Spectek Memory chip is compatible with the Gigabyte Motherboard, even though Gigabyte lists the same Adata module number but uses a different chip from Hynix.
This situation is quite confusing because the memory model is supposed to include SK Hynix chips. It's strange how Specktek chips fit into this. I'm confident it will work, but I should contact ADATA and whoever provided it to investigate further. Hopefully, someone here has more information. Apologies.
SpecTek is a wholly owned division of Micron, a ram OEM whose major consumer label for ram is Crucial.
I don't see a problem there, Crucial ram is basically compatible with anything. I doubt Micron would release ram that didn't hold up to its standards.
The only thing I can figure is even though Adata kept the same model number, it changed OEM supplier for that ram, prolly due to cost factors or supply issues, which there was/is a shortage of silicon ic's not too long ago.
@vMax However, Asrock ab350m pro4 also lists the same model using Spectek as the chip maker. It seems data previously used Hynix but changed to Spectek due to compatibility problems.

Someone mentioned that Asrock ab350m pro4 appears with the same model when using Spectek as the chip maker. It seems data used Hynix before, but compatibility problems led to switching to Spectek. Probably this is why they maintained the model number system.
