I've seen reports suggesting the 7700k heats up more than the 6700k even though they share the same production method and design. Some say it's due to higher clock speeds on the 7700k, while others mention a different thermal interface between the chip and the heat spreader. Could anyone clarify which CPUs were tested and confirm their details?

They're accurate. Increased clock speed leads to more heat generation. Refer to the previous discussion and this link for more details.

I've used a few Skylake CPUs and only one Kaby Lake desktop. The differences aren't huge. Both had 14 cores originally, but Kaby Lake was about 14 plus. In practice you got roughly 100 MHz more speed at full voltage. Performance at lower speeds stayed similar. For the coolest temps, delid with liquid metal works best. I didn’t find much success with delid and paste probably because of pumping issues.

It's possible I'm mistaken, but I remember the main reason temperatures got worse coming down to the IHS design being more curved and not fitting as well with heat exchangers.
