Uncertain about the situation.
You're dealing with an older setup that's showing signs of trouble. It seems the power supply might be faulty, as it wasn't receiving power when you entered the room. The chirp from the PSU and the failure to start despite reconnecting suggest a possible issue with the power delivery or internal components. After disassembling everything, you might want to test the PSU with a known-good unit or check for visible damage.
Based on the age, it seems your PSU is likely no longer reliable. If you replace it, verify that all components remain compatible since faulty power supplies can harm your hardware.
Can the motherboard's RGB lighting still function even if it seems to draw power from the PSU?
yeah...... this is a c-tier psu. not good for this hardware. get a new one. wouldnt buy this one for this caliber of hardware even if it were the last one in the country
Yes, it's possible to run the components without powering the whole system. Your graphics card and motherboard might be getting power while the rest remains inactive. Just check if the CPU is dead.
RGB is usually the final factor to think about regarding PSU options. You’ll likely need a different PSU eventually...
