I already have a solid setup. My current rig runs an i7 6700K with an Asus Z170-A board. I’m looking to upgrade because it’s been several years and I want something even more powerful. Streaming in 1080p for shows like Playthroughs and Apex Legends requires a faster CPU, so I’m considering the i9 9900K. For the motherboard, I’m not sure what to choose but need something reliable. Spending up to $1000 on the CPU is fine—just make sure it’s worth the investment. Any suggestions? Thanks ahead!

You don’t have to invest in a $1000 CPU when the 3rd Gen Ryzen lineup offers great value. A $500 3900X works well for streaming, and adding a decent X570 board completes the setup. Would you think about going AMD?

Ryzen is increasingly outperforming Intel on the main market. Get more bang for your buck. With a GTX 1070, consider switching to a 3700x or better Ryzen processor and upgrade your GPU later.

The latest Ryzen models are quite strong, making it necessary to have at least an i7 for a better performance. It's also more affordable compared to the 5 3600. Your current CPU is decent but only slightly better than the 2600. You're still in a good position.
