Recently one of my ram sticks failed so I removed it and installed a working one to start the system. It would give me one beep with no signal. I reset the CMOS battery to try and get it to boot up, and it did. Then when I was normally browsing on my PC, it suddenly stopped working and became stuck. It started beeping five times. When I restarted it, it worked fine for about 30 minutes before stopping again and beeping five times. I’m not sure what the problem might be? (I have an ASRock Mobo.)
Asrock B450 M pro F Mobo features a Ryzen 5 3500 CPU, an Rx 6600 XT GPU, 16 GB of RAM (though currently 8 GB due to a faulty unit), a 550 watt power supply, a 500 GB SSD, and a 500 GB HDD.
It seems you modified just one of the RAM sticks, which might cause an issue since they should match perfectly unless they're from the same set. If you're using only a single test and placing it correctly according to the manual, I'd recommend checking the slot alignment as well. Typically, these are A2 or B2 slots.
I only have one RAM stick installed now. I've put it in every slot and tried to fix it but nothing works. It powers on and then after 5 minutes it freezes and goes dark. After the black screen, my monitor tries to locate a source but can't find anything and beeps five times.
My computer stopped working and displayed 5 beeps. I tried reseating everything but had no success. Then I removed the CPU as a last resort and found some black marks on the pins (not burn marks). I cleaned them carefully with isopropyl alcohol, a toothbrush, and a toothpick. After cleaning, I noticed some gold plating had faded. When I put it back in, the PC turned on but only had fans spinning, no display, and no beep codes. I tried removing the RAM and GPU to get beeps, but nothing worked. Did I damage my CPU or is there another issue?
Am I missing something?
I'll attach a picture of the black marks on the CPU pins. I don't know how they appeared or what they are.

Run memtest86+ without opening windows. Make a bootable USB stick and configure BIOS to use it as the primary boot device. Execute the test. Any issues detected in the DIMMS indicate defective RAM.
