PC model: Ryzen 9 5900x paired with XFX 6900XT, RAM PC4-28800, x570s carbon max, Wi-Fi enabled. Power supply: RM1000x, running Windows 11 Pro x64 (same as previous version). Running software includes Norton, ICUE, Razer Central (for RGB lighting), HWMonitor (temperature check), and Radeon drivers. BIOS version: E7D52AMS.140 dated 8/11/22. Issue description: During gaming sessions, the system randomly restarts hard. Occasionally it freezes on the final frame for a few seconds before shutting down completely. Stress tests haven’t reproduced this. XFX confirmed the hardware is faulty but hasn’t disclosed the cause. After replacing the GPU, the same problem persists. Lowering GPU clock speeds and power settings extends stability, though CPU temps stay around 75°C and GPU stays between 60-76°C.
It didn’t alter anything compared to the previous attempt. The process involved clearing all AMD drivers on my system, and I’ll refresh them once new updates become available.
They got back to me and said that they tested the GPU before sending it out. I've updated everything to the most recent versions. It's still way too early to tell if this is a one off event or if it's something bigger. I'll update with any new events. If nothing happens [and I remember] I'll terminate this topic.
Consider checking the manufacturer's website for your motherboard and install the newest BIOS and chipset firmware. Afterward, remove the GPU drivers, use DDU to fully uninstall all graphics drivers, and reinstall them once you restart. This approach might seem simple, but ensure your case is clean of dust.
My issue is clean—no dust detected. Magnetic filters work well. GPU matters were resolved before this post. All chipsets and drivers are up-to-date per the comments above.
The 5900X displayed unstable behavior over several months due to compatibility issues with the RAM module. It could help to review your board manufacturer's RAM guidelines. Additionally, adjusting the power standby setting resolved some recurring problems after replacing the RAM. I suspect a potential PSU or board fault.
