Unattended abrupt FPS reductions on premium setup
Thanks for the update. I've already reached out and expect the new parts by Wednesday. I'll keep you posted on the results. Regrettably, I'll need to use a 240mm cooler at this time since my setup doesn't accommodate a 360mm. Despite that, the case has many fans.
For certainty about what’s inside your computer, open the search bar and enter “System information.” If you need help understanding any results, share a screenshot. Your username will appear automatically—just make sure it matches your preferred display and you don’t want it shared publicly. The timezone information will also show up in the relevant section. Using the built-in snip tool lets you mark areas you don’t want visible and easily copy them via CTRL+V.
The gear has arrived and I'm assembling everything. I saw my new motherboard has an ATX_12v_v1 (8-pin) and an ATV_12_v2 (4-pin) connector. Should I link both to my power supply? Also, my PSU has two CPU cables but both use 8-pin connectors.
Are both units using 8-pin CPUs? A 4+4 pin setup is for a CPU, while a 6+2 pin configuration is typically for a GPU. You usually only need one, unless you're working on overclocking.
I noticed my motherboard is the Asus ROG Strix B660-F Gaming. I added a 4-pin cable for the CPU to the motherboard after seeing it on my PSU. I also tried turning on XMP in the BIOS but ended up with a black screen, so I had to reset it back to default settings. My memory cards are: 4x Kingston Fury Beast with Intel XMP, RGB 6000MHz, DDR5, CL40 - KF560C40BBAK2. Anyone know what could be going on? I assumed the motherboard would support those cards at 6000MHz.
Couldn't run all four sticks in XMP. DDR5 controllers are just starting out, so they're unstable. Manually adjust them—try 5600 if 6000 fails.
