I assembled my gaming PC roughly a month ago and have faced numerous problems with crashes. Here are the details: I use an ASUS ROG Strix B450-F with a Ryzen 7 2700X, stock Wraith Prism cooler, 2x8 GB Corsair Vengeance 3200MHz RAM, a Powerspec 650W 80 Plus Gold power supply. My graphics card is EVGA 980 Ti and it's superclocked. I have an unknown WiFi/Bluetooth card. My games frequently crash after about 5 to 30 minutes of playtime with titles like CSGO, Battlefield V, or Star Wars Battlefront II. Component temps stay within normal ranges, never exceeding 80 degrees.

I resolved the issue by switching to the Ryzen Balanced power setting in Windows and adjusting the RAM clocking (though I’m unsure if that’s valid). In the BIOS I lowered the RAM speed from 3200 to 3133 MHz. Now my CPU runs at only 2.24 GHz. When I revert to another plan and use the 3200 MHz for RAM, games crash, freeze, or trigger a BSOD. Currently, my performance is around 50-60 FPS on Ultra in Battlefield V. I’d like to upgrade my graphics card later, but it seems my system struggles with higher-end options like an RTX 2070 Super due to the under-clocked CPU. My Cinebench scores for the Ryzen Balanced plan are roughly 2200-2300, while other plans sit in the low to mid 3000s.

I’m new to computing and would really appreciate any guidance since I haven’t fully assessed my machine’s potential yet.

Have you checked for BIOS updates? Even though I think it might be a power-related problem, your PSU appears to be solid.

Choose 2933MHz as the frequency.

Get your graphics software from Nvidia's page. Remove existing display settings with DDU before turning off your network card to prevent automatic installation of old drivers when you restart.
