Hi, your friend is facing a persistent BCD error when trying to boot his PC. The system initially loads the installer but fails to progress, showing only background and cursor. After disconnecting the drives and retrying, the error persists even after reconnecting. We've tried all possible fixes—resetting BIOS, switching to legacy mode, and more—but the issue remains unchanged. There appears to be no solution for rebuilding the BCD. We understand this is frustrating, and we’re here to help if you have any other ideas or steps to try.
Consider using another USB port and rebuilding the installer on that device (your current one may be damaged). Then try again with the drives removed and reset the CMOS by briefly taking the battery out. If this doesn’t help, I’m not sure what to do next.
Attempt to start a Linux live installation. If unsuccessful, I'll experiment with your RAM. I've noticed faulty RAM can let a system pass but trigger BCD errors across all operating systems.
