I’ve shared updates on Reddit, Steam forums, and Twitter. I’m dealing with multiple refunds through Steam within two weeks. The problem is that if the game has less than two hours of playtime, Steam refunds the money to your Steam account, leaving you stuck with 70 euros instead of being able to repurchase it from Origin. I’m trying to postpone the refund as long as possible. Edit: It’s frustrating when others say it’s a problem with me, even though I’m not the only one affected. I have two friends who own the game and it works fine for them, so I’m confused about why about 100–150 people experience this issue. Also, I’m not a beginner on PCs—I’ve never had this problem before.
If integrity checks on game files produced no outcomes, consider repairing your Windows. For instance, open Command Prompt with admin rights and run sfc /scannow. If nothing appears, proceed with DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth. After these steps, restart your PC. If issues persist, updating or reinstalling GPU drivers may help. Good luck!
I previously ran sfc /scannow but it didn’t detect anything. A fresh restorehealth attempt also failed. The driver reinstallation didn’t resolve the problem either. I’ve performed several DDU operations and updated the NVIDIA drivers, but GDEF remains unresolved. No improvements have been seen so far.
With a credit card, you can always send the refund to the bank, which might take a week.
I don’t have that choice—chipset is outdated and there’s still nothing. I’ve tested several BIOS versions, but it wasn’t a chance.
1. Check event viewer for any crash dump related to it. 2. Check if there's any log file in %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\F1 23\ 3. Does this game required Origin to run in the background? Try reinstall it.
I've tested another network and used multiple SSDs. Running CHKDSK /F in cmd after rebooting fixed some files, but my problem remains. The second screenshot shows an error when changing the .exe name, indicating it seems missing. Could you suggest other steps based on these logs? Also, it appears the game is installed through Steam, like most F1 titles before.
It mainly depends on whether the issue lies with Steam or the game itself. The problem seems unlikely to be with Steam, but if it’s related to the game, they won’t be able to assist. You can expect it to take a few days to a month before someone reads about it, as there’s a lot of traffic involved.
I reset my BIOS to the default settings and reinstalled the game, which now starts up. I also created a new partition just for the game. I turned off the BIOS profile, which means CPU overclock and XMP are enabled, causing the game to refuse booting—this is related to the BIOS configuration. I plan to update again once I identify the specific BIOS setting that triggers this issue.
