Unable to set up Windows 7 64-bit version.
Hey there, I installed Windows 7 32-bit by mistake on a 64-bit disk. Now it won’t even start up into the setup menu. I’ve tried booting from the 32-bit version but got an error saying the disk isn’t compatible. I went into the UEFI BIOS, turned off all other boot options except the CD/DVD drive, and managed to get a black screen before returning to the UEFI. My CPU is actually compatible with a 64-bit OS, but it seems like something’s blocking access.
You should remove Windows via the 32-bit disk and then install the 64-bit version.
I'm trying to prevent that since it's already set up on an AM SSD.
Also, if the operating system resides on the SSD, you need to remove it from that drive before installing the updated version on the SSD.
You can switch to a different drive using the boot menu, then format it before setting up Windows. Skipping this step changes the existing operating system, which can lead to serious issues.
