Unable to separate front and rear audio jacks on Windows 11.
Unable to separate front and rear audio jacks on Windows 11.
Previously, I could distinguish between the front and rear audio jacks easily. This let me connect my headphones while keeping the speakers ready for use. Now I can't make that switch. It seems unrelated to a Windows 11 update, but the situation has changed. Now only monitors and one speaker appear as output devices, unlike before when another option showed up (see picture). Previously, plugging in headphones would mute the rear jack. I relied on this setup for gaming, allowing seamless audio changes without disconnecting. I recall in Windows 7 and 10 there was software from Realtek that let me split front and rear jacks, but I couldn<|pad|> to find a way to download it for Windows 11. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I've tried reinstalling Realtek drivers, updating chipset drivers, and changing headphones. My system details are as follows: OS – Windows 11 x64-bit, CPU – AMD Ryzen 5 7600 X (used), Motherboard – AsRock B650M Pro RS (BIOS 3.16), RAM – Kingston Fury RGB 2x 16GB DDR5-6000 (KF560C30BWEAK2-32), GPU – Gigabyte RX 6750 XT (used), M.2 SSD – WD Blue SN580 1TB & 500GB, PSU – Thermaltake SMART BM3 750W. All drivers are current.
I don't know the exact version, but there have been several changes since last fall that affected audio output in OBS for many Twitch users. You might experience the same problem. Check this discussion from Windows 10: https://superuser.com/questions/1285796/...nels-win10. In short, search for the Realtek Audio Console in the Windows search bar—there are many adjustable settings. For me, I went to Speakers and then Advanced Parameters, where I found options for front and rear panel connectors plus stereo, quadra, 5.1 and 7.1 modes. I'm using Windows 10, I’m hoping Windows 11 still offers those settings. Let me know if this helps.
The problem seems addressed since I was able to download the Realtek audio console and it provided a solution.
